Job summary

Deerfield Academy is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to support the D.S. Chen Health and Wellness Center during the academic year. Shifts are 4 pm–8 pm Monday through Thursday with weekend availability (Saturday and Sunday 4 pm–8 pm).

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the nurse will provide comprehensive health care to students and employees in a clinic and infirmary setting, adhering to professional standards and HIPAA policies.

Qualifications

Associates Degree in Nursing is required; a Bachelor’s is preferred.
Current Massachusetts RN license is required; BLS certification is required.
Strong communication and decision-making capabilities are essential.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment is needed.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent, individual health care and education to Deerfield students and employees.
Follow orders per physician or NP and nursing standards of practice.
Recognize emergencies and initiate intervention; arrange hospital transfer if needed.
Maintain high nursing care while following center policies and safety standards.
Show professional, compassionate care toward students, families, and staff.
Comply with HIPAA policies and regulations.
Document thoroughly in the electronic medical record system.
Draw blood, call in prescriptions, dispense meds, and administer immunizations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
