Job summary

The Town of Groton is seeking a School Crossing Guard to direct and control traffic at crossings used by school children, ensuring safety during peak hours.

This part-time, seasonal position offers up to 12 hours per week, with starting pay of $17.50 per hour and a range up to $19.25. You may issue citations when authorized and perform related duties to support school safety; regular attendance and ability to stand, walk, kneel, and lift up to twenty pounds are required.

Qualifications

• Must understand written instructions and oral directions.
• Maintain effective, courteous relationships with stakeholders.
• Able to enforce instructions firmly and fairly.
• Stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift up to 20 pounds.
• Experience working with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and control traffic at school crossings to ensure safety.
• Direct pedestrians and vehicles and, when authorized, issue citations for violations.
• Perform additional school-safety duties as assigned by supervision.
