Job summary

Mesa Public Schools is seeking a Crossing Guard for Porter Elementary in Mesa, AZ. This part-time position (5 hours per week) involves supervising student crossings, assisting with safe access to and from school, and enforcing crossing rules.

Starting date to be determined. Base hourly $16.56. Training on safety, annual performance pay, and experience credits available. Applicants must have high school education and knowledge of traffic safety rules.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of traffic safety rules and school policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the safe crossing of school children in designated crossing areas
• Assist students, parents, and staff to provide safe access to and from school
• Communicate to students, parents, staff and visitors to ensure their understanding of school policies and enforcement procedures
• Report observation and/or incidents relating to students to appropriate school personnel
• Respond to emergency situations to address immediate safety concerns
• Wear orange safety vest and carry MPS issued, red hand-held sign to guide students, etc.
• Place and remove school crossing and traffic control signs to notify motorists of school pedestrian crossing
• Regular on time attendance required
• Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
