Job summary

Patterson Elementary, part of Mesa Public Schools, is seeking a Crossing Guard to help ensure the safety of students during travel to and from school. This part-time position offers 3.75 hours per week with a base hourly rate of $16.56, within a 9.25-month calendar code (A11).

Responsibilities include supervising crossings, assisting students, parents, and staff, and enforcing school policies. Outdoor work with standing duties is required.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of traffic safety rules and school policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the safe crossing of school children in designated crossing areas.
• Assist students, parents, and staff to provide safe access to and from school.
• Communicate to students, parents, staff and visitors to ensure their understanding of school policies and enforcement procedures.
• Report observation and/or incidents relating to students to appropriate school personnel.
• Respond to emergency situations to address immediate safety concerns.
• Wear orange safety vest and carry MPS issued, red hand-held sign to guide students, parents, staff, etc.
• Place and remove school crossing and traffic control signs to notify motorists of school pedestrian crossing.
• Regular on time attendance required.
• Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools.
