Job summary

Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated School Counselor to provide counseling and support within a school district in Lambertville, MI. The role focuses on social, emotional, and academic success for students and involves collaboration with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Individuals will support goal setting, crisis intervention when needed, and participation in planning meetings. This position is 2 days per week (Tuesday and Thursday, 8 AM–12 PM) with immediate availability.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in School Counseling or related field.
• Valid Michigan School Counselor certification or eligibility for certification.
• Experience providing counseling services in a school setting.
• Knowledge of student support services, special education processes, and intervention strategies.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group counseling services to support students' social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs.
• Assist students with goal setting, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and self-advocacy skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff to identify and address student concerns.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, student support meetings, and intervention planning.
• Support the implementation of school-wide social-emotional learning initiatives and positive behavior supports.
• Conduct risk assessments and provide crisis intervention when necessary.
• Monitor student progress and recommend evidence-based interventions and supports.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
• Serve as a resource for students and families regarding academic planning, attendance concerns, and community resources.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive school climate.
