Job summary

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, School Counseling, Social Work or Psychology.
• Experience providing school-based counseling or related services preferred.
• Preference for Illinois PEL School Support Endorsement and professional licenses.
• Experience in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Present counseling lessons based on ASCA student success standards.
• Provide short-term counseling and referrals for long-term support.
• Offer group or individual counseling to teach intervention strategies.
• Collaborate with families, teachers, administrators and community for student success.
• Advocate for students at student support meetings and other meetings.
• Mobilize family, school and community resources to support learning.
• Support staff with direct support, in-services or behavior management.
• Assist with crisis intervention and develop safety plans for at-risk students.
• Participate in crisis response with the principal when needed.
