Job summary

Alamance-Burlington School System is seeking a part-time Food Service Assistant for Andrews Elementary in Burlington, NC. Working 7am–1:30pm, 30 hours per week, you will prepare and serve breakfast and lunch, assist with inventory, and ensure all safety standards are met.

This position operates on the school calendar with full benefits for eligible hours. The role requires basic English literacy, ability to handle cash, and strong customer service skills in a busy school cafeteria environment.

Qualifications

• Basic ability to read and speak/understand English and count currency; make change at the register.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students.
• Knowledge of food service safety and etiquette is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch to students and staff.
• Operate serving lines and maintain clean, organized serving areas.
• Handle cashiering responsibilities including food and ticket sales.
• Assist with inventory and restocking as needed.
• Follow USDA and health regulations and school policies.
• Maintain personal hygiene and sanitary procedures.
• Support promotions and events for students and the community.
