Job summary

Valley Christian Schools is hiring a Substitute School Bus Driver for Cerritos, CA. This part-time role covers morning and afternoon routes, drives students to school events, and handles safety duties under the Transportation Director.

Required are a Class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements, a Bus Driver Certificate, and First Aid certification. A medical exam every two years is needed. LiveScan and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• Possess a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement, air brake endorsement, and Bus Driver Certificate issued by CHP (company willing to assist).
• First Aid certification required (CHP or Red Cross).
• Medical examination every two years.
• Drive school bus safely and maintain order among students.
• Punctual and dependable with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive a bus on designated routes according to schedule; pick up/discharge pupils at stops; assist with crossing safety.
• Transport students and teachers on field trips and athletic events as directed.
• Perform crossing guard duties in morning/afternoon.
• Conduct daily bus safety checks; fuel/clean bus; report mechanical issues.
• Maintain mileage logs and monthly reports.
• Supervise student behavior per policy; attend trainings and meetings.
• Possess flexibility to perform other related duties as assigned.
