Job summary

Alta Rancho Pet Hospital in Rancho Cucamonga, CA is seeking a Part-Time Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. The RVT will provide nursing care, monitor anesthesia, assist in surgery, and perform dental procedures in a busy hospital and outdoor settings.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of veterinary clinical experience, CA RVT licensure or eligibility within 3 months, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of veterinary clinical experience as a Veterinary Technician.
• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in California, or eligible to transfer within 3 months of hire.
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint for a variety of species.
• Ability to perform nursing care in a hospital or outdoor setting.
• Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Dental procedures experience: scaling, polishing, radiographs, extractions, suturing.
• IV catheter and urinary catheter placement, casts, bandages, splints.
• Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience including intubation and peri-operative care.
• Laboratory skills including cytology setup and interpretation.
• Diagnostic imaging including radiology and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in hospital or outdoor settings.
• Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgery.
• Perform dental procedures: scaling, polishing, radiographs, extractions, suturing.
• Place IV and urinary catheters; assist with casts, bandages, splints.
• Assist with imaging and laboratory tests as needed.
• Communicate effectively with team and clients.
