About the Staff Nurse Role and Gynecology Clinic * Part Time 30 Hour RN Position * –One Year of RN Experience Strongly Preferred –Previous GYN Experience Strongly Preferred The Gynecology Clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital has over 25 providers and see approximately 2000 patients per month. We are mainly a consultative practice that see patients with gynecology complications. Our specialty clinics include Vulvar Clinic, Colposcopy Clinic, Resident Clinic, Family Planning, Minimally Invasive Gynecological surgery and Urogynecology. Our RNs work closely with MDs and APPs (NP). The staff nurse ensures proficient, conscientious nursing care. As a primary nurse is responsible and accountable for the overall nursing care management of patients. The RN collaborates with the primary physician, members of the patient care team, support staff and nurse manager to achieve efficient patient outcomes.

Skills and Experience for a Staff Nurse

• 2 years of relevant nursing experience (med-surg, ambulatory, inpatient) required.
• Experience in OB/GYN and/or ambulatory experience preferred.
• Epic experience preferred.

Summary

Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients’ clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.

Essential Functions

• Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
• Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
• Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.
• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.

Qualifications Education

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
• Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills.
• Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.
