Description

Department: Healthcare
Reports to: Healthcare Director

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Actively works with the Healthcare team and Leadership team to provide nursing care for the sisters, assisting all sisters with management and coordination of their healthcare needs.
  • Assesses sisters’ physical and mental health needs and assists in identifying ongoing physical, psychosocial, and environmental needs.
  • Provides safe and effective nursing care in accordance with Standards of Practice, Standards of Care, and Best Practice.
  • Assists Healthcare Director and sisters with coordination of healthcare needs, coordinating care through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Assists sisters with coordination of appointments and medication management.
  • Transports sisters to appointments, coordinates follow-through with medical recommendations and orders, and encourages sisters to follow through with healthcare providers’ recommendations.
  • Assists the sisters with completing their Annual Health Forms.
  • Reports significant changes in health conditions to the Healthcare Director.
  • Maintains documentation on each of the sisters as needed.
  • Demonstrates initiative in observing what needs to be done and following through.
  • Works with the Healthcare team to reduce risk and improve safety for the sisters.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to assist sisters and Healthcare team.
  • Visits sisters in long-term care settings on a regular basis.
  • Provides emotional support and companionship to sisters while setting and maintaining professional boundaries.
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent critical thinking skills with ability to prioritize and triage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate in person, over the phone, by email or other written communication.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state of Nebraska.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs and physically assist sisters with daily routines and transferring into and out of vehicles and chairs.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours to meet the sisters’ needs; occasional on-call nursing coverage.
  • Experience with Microsoft suite.
  • Ability to complete CPR certification.
  • Willingness to understand and appreciate the traditions and culture associated with the Notre Dame Sisters and the Catholic Church.

Education and Experience

  • Nebraska RN license.
  • Established history of working as a Registered Nurse.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
