We are seeking a compassionate and skilled PRN Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) to support our Omaha hospice team.

This PRN role offers true flexibility—pick up day shifts or weekend shifts based on your availability. It is a great fit for nurses who want meaningful work with the freedom to choose when they serve.

As a Hospice RN, you’ll provide supportive, holistic care to clients and families, helping ensure comfort, dignity, and compassion at every stage of the hospice journey.

Essential Functions
  • Complete an initial, comprehensive, and ongoing assessment of the senior/client and family to determine hospice needs. Provides a complete physical assessment and history of current and previous illnesses.
  • Provide professional nursing care by utilizing all elements of the nursing process as defined in the state Nurse Practice Act.
  • Assess and evaluate the senior/client’s status by:
    • Writing and initiating a plan of care that establishes goals, based on nursing diagnosis and incorporates palliative nursing actions.
    • Regularly re‑evaluating senior/client and family/caregiver needs.
    • Participating in revising the plan of care as necessary, including the senior/client and the family in the planning process.
  • Use health assessment data to determine nursing diagnosis.
  • Initiate appropriate preventative and rehabilitative nursing procedures. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician in the physician’s plan of care.
  • Provide health care instructions to the senior/client as appropriate per assessment and plan.
  • Assist the senior/client with activities of daily living and facilitate the senior’s/client's efforts toward self-sufficiency and optional comfort care.
  • Act as case manager when assigned by the Patient Care Coordinator and assume responsibility to coordinate senior/client care for the assigned caseload.
  • Complete, maintain, and submit accurate and relevant clinical notes regarding senior/client’s condition and care given. Record pain/symptom management changes/outcomes as appropriate.
  • Communicate with the physician regarding the senior/client’s needs and report changes in the senior/client’s condition; obtain/receive physician’s orders as required.
Ideal Candidate
  • Age Requirement: At least age 18.
  • Education: Successful completion of a Registered Nurse course of study. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Experience: Two years of acute care or long‑term care nursing experience within the last five years required. Experience in community health and/or hospice preferred.
  • Credentials: RN license in good standing as recorded on the Nebraska State Registry or other Nurse Compact state required. CPR required. License must be kept up to date at the expense of the employee. Valid Nebraska Driver’s license and a good driving record required. Must possess auto insurance at or above Nebraska statutory requirements. Must meet Tabitha’s vaccination requirements.
Compensation and Benefits

We value our employees and offer a competitive starting pay range of $36-40.32 per hour for RNs based on qualifications, experience, and location. Shift premiums and differentials are also available for select positions, paid on employment status and shift worked.
