Job summary

Family Dollar in Gautier, MS is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with daily store functions, help customers, and oversee merchandise flow.

This role requires strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities. You will train Store Associates, ensure compliance with policies, and maintain a safe, welcoming environment for customers and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and receipts, and loss prevention
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure associates follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers, associates, and leaders
• Ensure cleanliness of the store including bathrooms, floors, and trash removal
• Other duties as assigned
