Job summary

The Salvation Army Whittier store in Whittier, CA is seeking a part-time Sales Associate/Material Handler. You will assist customers, process donations, stock shelves, and operate the POS system in line with Salvation Army standards.

Responsibilities include greeting customers and donors, unloading donations, maintaining a clean store, and following safety and HR policies. Flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays, is required to ensure adequate store coverage.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Must be able to operate POS/Cash Register
• Must pass background check
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, fellow store employees, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and donors and provide prompt, courteous assistance.
• Stock priced items and merchandise on the sales floor.
• Sort donations for processing according to standards.
• Maintain store cleanliness and organization; perform assigned cleaning tasks.
• Follow POS/Cash Register policies and procedures.
• Maintain safety standards and report hazards to managers.
• Attend required monthly store meetings.
• Flexible to work evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays as needed.
• Receive, unload, and stock incoming inventory accurately.
• Provide QA by inspecting products for defects and damages.
