General Description:

The Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries is a privately funded 501(c)3 non-profit, evangelical Christian ministry. Our designated purpose is religious, and we are a Christ-centered ministry which is dedicated to sharing the Gospel and helping the homeless and impoverished. We consider every position to be essential in the fulfillment of our ministry and statement of purpose. As such, each employee must have a relationship with Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.

Essential Functions:

As a member ofstaff, uphold, promote, and encourage, in word and deed, desired organizational culture and values; purposefullyseektoestablishand maintain a culture that is based on grace and affirms and advances KGM’s vision and purpose.

Cashiering:

• Greet customers entering the store offering friendly customer service.
• Answer any questions, (i.e., where is the bathroom, store hours, pricing policies, etc.)
• Be knowledgeable to answer inaaccurate professionalmanner.
• Receive payment by cash, credit card, or automaticdebits cards.
• Receive, orverifyand accept vouchers from shelter residents, for products sold in thestore.
• Organize, restock, and arrange display merchandise throughoutstore.
• Keep stockof, andreplenish as needed; bags, boxes, register tape, candy, pens,staplesand other tools as needed for full operation at theregister.
• Input customer information for databaseExpress the Christian Views of the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, and ifsoinspired write ascripture on the front board for patrons toread.
• Issue receipts, and upon Manager Approval,creditsslips, or alternate exchange to customers to resolve any saleissues.
• Keepaccuratechange in drawer and let someone know when dollar bills or fives are lowto ensure we can make change for higherbillsMaintain clean and orderly checkoutareas.
• provide great customerserviceAssistin the stocking and rotation ofmerchandiseContinually serve as a positive role model for all employees, shelterparticipantsandcustomersBeing arollmodel and teacher to guest doing Christian service hours and job training.

Warehouse/Receiving/Donation Attendant:

• Assistdonors with unloading cars & carrying in donations.
• Provide receipts to donors,inputtingcustomer information intocomputerandgreetwithpoliteand friendlydemeanor.
• Operate Forklift for loading and unloading merchandise.
• Sort, Collect and disburse, bag/box all donations brought in and prepare it forappropriate pricingand distribution out to the salesfloor.
• Sort, clean, organize, anddonationsas they are brought in, discardingun-salableitems whileutilizingspace allotted for separatedmerchandise.
• Alwaysassistother attendants in keepingthe areaneat andclean.
• Take discarded items out to the compacterin a timely mannerso as not to let pail overflow or not be ready for continueduse.
• Assistthe donation truckdriverloading or unloading donationsorpurchasedmerchandise for customers out on the sales floor.
• Demonstrate consistent positive behavior with all internal and external customers and professionally communicate our donation policies andprocedures.
• Attendtraining/meetings as scheduled byManagement.
• Responsible formaintaininga safe workingenvironment.
• Being a role modeland teachertoguest doing Christian service hoursandjob training.

DriverDuties:

• Ability to become an authorized driver
• Maintain authorized driver status
• Plans and completes an efficient delivery/pickup route for the day
