Daybreak is seeking a part-time Residential Specialist to support our mission of providing Miami Valley homeless and vulnerable youth with services that promote safety, stability, and well-being. This role contributes to our vision of a promising future for all youth.
3rd Shift every other weekend - 16 hours. Friday and Saturday, 11pm-7am. The hourly rate is $16.25, with opportunities for additional shifts.
Established in 1975 in Dayton, Ohio, Daybreak originally served as an emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth. Today, we operate the Miami Valley's only 24-hour crisis hotline and emergency youth shelter, along with outreach, prevention, transitional housing, life-skills education, and follow-up services.
The Residential Specialist will respond to crisis hotline calls and youth who walk into the shelter. Responsibilities include engaging clients, providing crisis intervention, completing intake and exit forms, offering guidance and coaching, and connecting youth with community resources. The role also involves supervising activities and ensuring timely documentation.
High School Diploma or GED required.
All employees must pass background checks and pre-employment testing, including fingerprinting, criminal background checks, and health screenings, in compliance with Ohio law and agency policies.
Background checks include federal databases and motor vehicle reports. Pre-employment tests include TB screening and drug testing. Employment is contingent upon passing these requirements and may be withdrawn if disqualifying criminal history is found.
