Description:

The Case Speech Laboratory (CSL) of Hofstra University, directed by Dr. Julie Case, is hiring a part-time speech language pathologist to work on a clinical research project beginning September 1, 2026. The speech language pathologist (SLP) will be involved in a multi-site clinical trial studying an extension of Dynamic Temporal Tactile Cueing (DTTC) treatment in children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS). The SLP will administer all protocols, including eligibility assessment tasks, treatment, and pre/post data. This is a part-time position requiring 10 hours per week. The appointment will be for five years.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administers all eligibility assessment protocols including initial screening, motor speech examination, articulation and language assessment, and caregiver reported measures of attention, resilience, and cognition.
  • Performs all initial communication with families regarding participation, study details, and scheduling.
  • Collects all pre/post auditory-perceptual and acoustic data explicitly following research protocols.
  • Oversees secure storage of participant data following specified IRB procedure.
  • Completes the scoring of all assessment tasks, including the organization of files and data.
  • Supervises student research assistants supporting study-related tasks.
  • Completes regular fidelity monitoring of treatment administration to ensure adherence to the experimental protocol.
  • Meets with the research team over the course of the study.
Qualifications:
  • Speech-Language Pathologist with certification from the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • A minimum of 2 years clinical experience with children with motor speech disorders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with dynamic assessment of pediatric motor speech disorders.
  • Previous experience with auditory-perceptual analyses for children with motor speech disorders.
  • Excellent organization and time management.
  • Problem-solving mindset.
  • Computer-savvy.
  • Interested in learning new skills.
