The Centre for Health Behaviours Research at The Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care is seeking a Part-time Research Assistant to support public health projects in Hong Kong. The role involves recruiting participants, conducting interviews online or by phone, coordinating research tasks, and performing data analysis with dissemination support.

Appointments are on a six-month contract, with potential renewal.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Psychology, Social or Health Sciences, Nursing, or other relevant disciplines (e.g., Biostatistics, Epidemiology)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent command of English and Cantonese
  • Some statistical skills

Responsibilities

  • Recruit participants at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in hospitals
  • Conduct questionnaire interviews online or by phone
  • Coordinate various research related functions
  • Perform data analysis and assist in disseminating research outputs
  • Work primarily at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin with occasional fieldwork in other districts

Job description

Part-time Research Assistant – (260001FP)

Description

The Centre for Health Behaviours Research under The Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care has been actively engaged in various public health research projects in Hong Kong and the Mainland China. Areas of interdisciplinary health research include people’s adjustments to traumatic events and well-being among chronic disease patients and helping professionals.

  • (i) a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Psychology, Social or Health Sciences, Nursing, or other relevant disciplines (e.g., Biostatistics, Epidemiology)
  • (ii) good interpersonal and communication skills
  • (iii) an excellent command of English and Cantonese
  • (iv) some statistical skills

Prior experience and skills in conducting or co-ordinating research or leading intervention projects would be advantageous. Candidates who have self-motivation to learn and are interested in pursuing a research career are particularly welcome to apply.

The appointee will primarily work at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin and sometimes have fieldwork in other districts.

On-the-job training on research methodology, research paper publishing, health promotion, biostatistics and epidemiology will be provided.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for six months commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
