Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to add a Part Time Recreation Assistant to the team at Southview Recreation Center. This position will focus on assisting with implementation and execution of recreation programs and leisure activities for diverse populations, such as youth, teens, and senior adults.

This position will work about 29 hours per week, which may include daytime hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business and facility needs.

Qualifications

  • Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, web site, social media and walk in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals.
  • Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary.
  • Enforce rules and regulations.
  • Collect fees and taking registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals.
  • Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas.
  • May referee at various sports activities; provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper, or linesperson at games
  • Assist with various recreational programs for all ages.
  • Handles inquiries and complaints from public.
  • Assist with special events and field trips

POSITION SUMMARY

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to add a Part Time Recreation Assistant to the team at Southview Recreation Center! This position will focus on assisting with implementation and execution of recreation programs and leisure activities for diverse populations, such as youth, teens, and senior adults. Our program areas include, but are not limited to arts, crafts, wellness, special events, summer camps, afterschool programs, and athletics. The selected candidate will be a key member of our team in building strong partnerships with our community. This position will work about 29 hours per week, which may include daytime hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business and facility needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Recreation programming experience highly preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, web site, social media and walk in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals.
  • Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary.
  • Enforce rules and regulations.
  • Collect fees and taking registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: No experience required

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes

Licenses & Certifications

Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License and County Driving Privileges; CPR/First Aid

Computer Skills:

General knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
