Part Time Recreation/Activities Assistant

We are seeking compassionate Programming/Activity Assistants to organize and implement programs tailored to meet the individual needs of our residents. These programs aim to fulfill psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs while promoting self-esteem in a caring environment. The Programming/Activity Assistant supports the Activity Director in all programming activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging daily activity programs.
• Lead and facilitate one-on-one, small group, and large group activities as per schedule.
• Encourage and support residents in independent activities.
• Understand residents' backgrounds, abilities, interests, and cognitive capacities to tailor activities.
• Motivate residents to participate in programs.
• Report any changes in residents' conditions or behaviors to the Activity Director.
• Supervise residents during excursions.

Requirements

• High school diploma, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience; knowledge of aging and disability issues.
• Experience and training in recreational activities.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community.
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, positive attitude, and work under pressure.
