Job summary

Greater Mental Health of New York is seeking an Assistant Recovery Specialist in Valley Cottage, NY. This part-time role supports individuals on their recovery journey, facilitating groups, providing peer supports, and assisting with activities and events in the community.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking).
• Relevant field experience as a Peer Professional/Direct Support Professional.
• Knowledge of recovery-oriented principles and trauma-informed care.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and contribute to a positive team culture.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management systems.

Responsibilities

• Engage with individuals receiving mental health services to build positive relationships.
• Provide transportation and support during recovery-related trips and events.
• Support a caseload of 5-10 adults with mental health or substance use concerns.
• Facilitate individual and group sessions focused on skill-building and coping strategies.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress.
