Job summary

Greater Mental Health of New York is seeking an Assistant Recovery Specialist to support recovery-oriented services with individuals living with mental health challenges. This part-time role involves helping participants, facilitating groups, and assisting with events while upholding trauma-informed, person-centered care.

You will work in the Valley Cottage/Rockland area with travel as needed, support 5-10 clients, maintain documentation, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote

Qualifications

  • CRPA/NYCPS – required within 6 months of hire.
  • Fluency in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking).
  • Valid Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record.
  • Experience in mental health or related roles is a plus.
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented principles and trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with individuals receiving mental health services to establish positive relationships.
  • Provide transportation and support during recovery-related trips and events.
  • Support a caseload of 5-10 adults with mental health or substance use concerns.
  • Provide encouragement, emotional support, and assistance with daily activities as needed.
  • Facilitate individual and group sessions focused on skill-building and coping strategies.
  • Facilitate weekly peer and recovery-related groups and document activities.
  • Maintain accurate confidential documentation of client interactions and progress.
