Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group in Fresno, CA, seeks a Part-Time Recovery Counselor for the Fresno Crisis Residential Treatment Facility. You will assist adults with daily living skills, monitor attendance, and lead group activities in a 24/7 inpatient setting.

Extensive on-the-job training, paid CEUs, and supervision for BBS hours are provided. Requirements include CPR/First Aid/ProAct within 30 days and a California driver’s license preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in a social science preferred.
• Six months of direct care experience in a mental health setting preferred.
• CPR, First Aid, and ProAct certifications required within 30 days of employment.
• Valid California Driver’s License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living skills and personal care.
• Monitor attendance and encourage participation in activities.
• Lead group activities and promote positive social interaction.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the medical record and participate in treatment teams.

Education

Job Title:

Part-Time Recovery Counselor

Division/Program:

Fresno Crisis Residential Treatment Facility (24/7 Adult Inpatient Residential)

Starting Compensation:

19.08 - 21.08 USD Per Hour

Working Location:

Fresno, CA

Working Hours/Shift:

Part Time every Friday and Saturday NOC shift: 10:00pm to 6:30am. $2 Hour additional for NOC Shift coverage.

What you bring to SBHG:

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) required.
• Associate degree in a social science field preferred.

Experience:

• Six (6) months of direct care experience in a mental health setting preferred. (A non-professional, consumer-directed internship may be substituted.)

Certifications & Licensure:

• Valid CPR, First Aid, and ProAct certifications are required within 30 days of employment.
• Valid California Driver’s License and eligibility to meet agency driving criteria preferred.

How you will make a difference

The Recovery Counselor has the primary responsibility for assisting clients with daily living skills, including eating, personal hygiene, grooming, and other care needs. Monitors attendance and encourages participation in activities and therapeutic programs using positive motivation and support. Helps lead group activities and outings, promotes positive social interaction among clients, and serves as a positive role model. Maintains accurate documentation of client participation and responses in the medical record and participates in treatment team meetings as needed.

Division/Program Overview:

• Population Served: Serving adults, ages 18-59
• Facility & Setting: 24/7 inpatient voluntary program, 16-bed facility
• Clinical Services: Rehabilitation/recoveryservices,including substance use rehabilitation services
• Length of Stay: 30 day stay
• Skills & Services: Pre-vocational or vocational counseling and medication evaluation and support services.
