Job summary

Trail Creek Place LLC in Michigan City, IN is seeking a part-time QMA to provide medications and nursing care to residents under supervision of the community nurse.

Duties include administering various medications (oral, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and optic) with restrictions, observing effects, documenting in medical records, coordinating with LPN/RN, and maintaining HIPAA privacy; flexible shifts and teamwork with residents and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a state-approved medication administration course, with proof of QMA certification.
• Certification as a CNA recognized by the state of Indiana.
• Ability to lift to 80 pounds occasionally and up to 60 pounds frequently.
• Strong communication and ability to maintain accurate medication records.

Responsibilities

• Perform the functions of a CNA.
• Administer oral, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and optic medications as prescribed (no injections).
• Observe the effects of medications and report to the licensed nurse.
• Administer PRN medications and treatments only with authorization.
• Care for residents to the full capacity allowed by the CNA title.
• Document administration or withholding or resident’s refusal of medications, and notify the nurse.
• Keep LPN/RN informed of residents’ condition and responses to medications.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Honor and respect resident privacy and HIPAA confidentiality.
• Follow policies and procedures; complete tasks correctly and on time.
