Discovery in Independence, MO seeks a part-time Python Developer with 4 years of Django experience to help rewrite and refine our backend and frontend stack. You’ll work in a flexible, mentorship-heavy environment, balancing Swift discussions and Kubernetes service decomposition as you ship features.

You\'ll collaborate across teams to guide decisions, review code, and mentor mid-level developers as we move Vue.js and Flask components toward a cohesive platform.

Qualifications

• 4 years of Django practice.
• Experience delivering in a part-time structure.
• Strong listening and communication skills.
• Ability to articulate technology tradeoffs to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Reverse-engineer the Kubernetes format Discovery inherited and undocumented.
• Ship Tailwind CSS features that move the technology roadmap forward.
• Catch the Django regression in staging before it reaches customers.
• Mentor the mid-level cohort through Next.js on-call at Discovery.
• Decompose the technology monolith into Kubernetes services Independence can deploy alone.
• Reproduce the entrepreneurial bug from Independence field reports and prevent recurrence.
• Explain Swift tradeoffs to technology stakeholders.
• Guard codebase quality through constructive reviews.
