Job summary

The Town of Plainfield is seeking a Technical Assistant to support the Manger of Support Services (HC911) with day-to-day tasks related to radio programming, CAD/database updates, and system maintenance. You will assist with testing, software use, and coordinating with public safety agencies to ensure efficient operation of the 800 MHz P25 trunked radio system.

Strong experience with Microsoft Office, CAD/GIS programming, and public safety radio systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; related experience may be accepted.
• Preferred FCC Amateur Technician License or higher.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and public safety software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with radio programming and software testing for public safety radio systems.
• Update and maintain databases and CAD/GIS related programming as assigned.
• Coordinate with agencies and vendors; respond to ticketed support requests.
• Assist with inventory, asset management, and encryption key handling.
• Provide technical support and radio troubleshooting; attend meetings as needed.
