Job summary

Township of Schaumburg (Hoffman Estates) is seeking a part-time Security Officer to safeguard the premises and assist residents, guests, and staff. The role emphasizes a visible security presence, rapid escalation of incidents, and coordination with local emergency services as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, at least two years in security/public-safety, and valid Illinois credentials including FOID and CCL.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of two years in security/public-safety is required; law enforcement or military background preferred.
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License, FOID, and Concealed Carry License (CCL) are required.
• Must provide and maintain an approved personal firearm and meet qualifications.
• Must maintain required security/public-safety training and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Monitor entrances, exits, common areas, and surveillance for safety and security.
• Maintain a visible security presence to ensure a safe environment for residents and staff.
• Respond to and escalate suspicious activity, disturbances, and emergencies per procedures.
• Coordinate with Hoffman Estates Police, Fire, or other emergency services when needed.
• Conduct rounds, monitor access, and secure doors and alarms at shift end.
• Document and communicate incidents and concerns during the shift.
• Greet residents and visitors, provide directions, and route inquiries as needed.
• Provide limited support with minor facility needs when not interfering with security.
