Their primary mission is to safeguard the property and ensure the well-being of residents, guests, and employees on the premises.

Hours:

This is a part-time position with hours scheduled based on Township operational needs. Daytime security coverage is generally scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Evening security coverage may be scheduled between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., depending on facility use and programming needs.

Additional evening, weekend, and special event shifts may be assigned as needed based on Township activities, programs, and operational requirements. Work schedules and the number of hours assigned may vary from week to week, and a minimum number of hours is not guaranteed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitor Township entrances, exits, common areas, surrounding areas, and video surveillance systems for safety, security, access, and suspicious activity.
  • Maintain a visible, professional security presence and help ensure a safe environment for employees, residents, visitors, and program participants.
  • Respond to and appropriately **escalate** suspicious activity, disturbances, safety concerns, emergencies, and other security-related incidents in accordance with Township procedures.
  • Contact and coordinate with Hoffman Estates Police, Fire, or other emergency services when necessary.
  • Conduct security rounds, monitor facility access, and secure doors, alarms, and designated areas at the conclusion of assigned coverage.
  • Document and communicate security incidents, unusual activity, facility concerns, and other relevant information occurring during the shift.
  • Greet residents and visitors, provide basic directions or facility assistance, and route calls or inquiries to the appropriate Township department as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of security, law enforcement, military, or comparable public-safety experience required; current or former law enforcement or military experience preferred.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and professional judgment skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while interacting with employees, residents, visitors, and emergency personnel.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Working Conditions:

This position requires on-site work at Township facilities and frequent standing and walking throughout assigned areas to visually monitor facility activity.
