Job summary

Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) seeks a part-time Prosthodontist to provide diagnosis, treatment planning, and hands-on clinical training for dental students. Responsibilities include patient evaluation, prosthesis fabrication, and supervision of lab staff.

Qualifications

• Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate essential functions of the job.
• Computer experience in the dental or related field to allow for axiUm computer program entry.
• Knowledge of Patient Relations and Scheduling.
• Knowledge of ADA Coding.
• Compliance with State and Federal Regulations and Safety Protocols in practice.
• Knowledge of patient privacy (HIPAA) and student privacy (FERPA).
• Follow proper OSHA and safety guidelines; protect equipment.
• Strong communication skills and computer literacy (MS Office Suite).
• Excellent organizational skills; accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to advise the students in the related subject field.
• Must have great skills in diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Must provide dental students with basic clinical training in the related discipline and Treatment Planning.
• Interview patients to learn about medical histories, complaints, and symptoms.
• Examine patients with X-rays and other equipment to make diagnoses.
• Create charts of patients' mouths.
• Take measurements for prostheses like dentures, crowns, and bridges.
• Make wax models of prostheses and supervise dental technicians and lab staff.
• Send models to lab companies that manufacture prostheses.
• Place prostheses in patients' mouths and adjust for proper fit.
• Repair, rebase, and reline dentures.
• Administer anesthesia and prescribe medications.
• Conduct surgery to repair mouth structures to restore function.
• Use veneers to hide defects and bleach teeth.
• Advise patients about brushing, flossing, and oral health care.
• Consult with other practitioners to determine treatment methods.
• Maintain equipment and order supplies.
• Provide consultation services as needed.
• Teach General Dentistry Faculty basic Prosthodontic services.
• Instruct dental students to assess and interpret patient data.
• Accept other duties assigned as needed.
• Develops Quality Assurance Programs in line with institutional protocols.
• Maintains and improves product quality by audits and investigations.
• Updates job knowledge through professional development.
• Enhances department reputation by ownership of new requests and value addition.
• Serve as Course director of Pre-Clinical Denture Courses when assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
