Job summary

Alvin College’s Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) department seeks dynamic Part‑Time Project Manager(s) to work on a PRN basis for project-based assignments. This PT Project Manager will manage projects related to grants, new program development, corporate training, and other CEWD needs on an as-needed basis.

The role requires flexible scheduling, including days, evenings and weekends, and collaboration with faculty, industry partners and stakeholders to deliver measurable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Education, Business, or Workforce Development.
  • At least five years of experience in workforce development, including program development and business engagement.
  • Associates degree or credential may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's.
  • Proven experience in writing, implementing and managing grants.
  • Experience with project management.

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities and prepare grant applications, including SDF grants.
  • Manage awarded grants and ensure compliance.
  • Monitor and report on grant activities, budgets and outcomes.
  • Develop new continuing education and workforce programs.
  • Collaborate with faculty, industry partners and stakeholders to design programs.
  • Plan, execute, and finalize projects to deadlines and budgets.
  • Represent Alvin Community College in a positive manner by establishing partnerships with local businesses and community organizations.

SUMMARY

Hourly range $30-$40, depending on education and related work experience.

This is a Part‑Time Professional position supporting our Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) department. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Alvin College's Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) department is seeking dynamic and experienced Part‑Time Project Manager(s) to work on a Pro Re Nata (PRN) basis for project-based assignments. This PT Project Manager will manage and oversee projects related to various grants (e.g., Skills Development Fund (SDF) grants), new program development, corporate training initiatives, and other needs of the department on an as‑needed basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Grants Management
  • Identify opportunities and prepare applications for various grants, including but not limited to Skills Development Fund (SDF) grants.
  • Manage awarded grants, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
  • Monitor and report on grant activities, budgets, and outcomes.
New Program Development
  • Conduct needs assessments and market research to identify workforce development opportunities.
  • Develop new continuing education and workforce programs in response to community and industry needs.
  • Collaborate with faculty, industry partners, and other stakeholders to design and implement new programs.
Corporate Training
  • Develop and manage corporate training programs tailored to the needs of local businesses and industries.
  • Work with corporate clients to identify training needs and customize training solutions.
  • Ensure training programs align with industry standards and provide measurable outcomes.
  • Represents Alvin Community College (ACC) in a positive manner by establishing working partnerships with local businesses, local school districts, local municipalities and trainers of ancillary personnel to assess training priorities and long‑range training needs.
Project Management
  • Plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.
  • Develop project scopes, objectives, and deliverables involving all relevant stakeholders and provide written and verbal reports to management throughout the project.
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long‑term goals.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation for project execution.
  • Track and turn in time and effort reports.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Act as the main point of contact for project‑related communication.
  • Facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective project execution.
  • Prepare and present reports, proposals, and project documentation as required.
Other Duties
  • Assist the CEWD department with various tasks and projects as needed.
  • Stay up‑to‑date with industry trends and best practices in workforce development.
  • Makes recommendations in the preparation and management of the budget.
  • Helps recruit instructors and staff to support the college’s mission.
  • Supports staff in developing professional skills and goals in support of college programs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbents may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday. Travel for meetings and events.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift to twenty (20) pounds. Must have access to reliable transportation if project requires off‑site visits or meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Education, Business, or Workforce Development.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in workforce development, including program development and business engagement.
  • Associates degree or industry credential and 3‑5 years workforce development experience related to project may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
  • Proven experience in writing, implementing and managing grants.
  • Experience with project management.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data reporting.
  • Must exhibit positive human relation skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form with all levels of an organization, from entry level employees to senior level management.
  • knowledge of training, certifications, and state and national standards workforce education.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the business and industry, the community, staff, and instructors.

  • Master’s degree in a related field, such as Education, Business, or Workforce Development
