Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Under general supervision, this position is responsible forproctoring exams in a secure environment. Proctoring and testingsupport functions are performed in a small office environment.Teamwork, ethical judgment, and dedication to exam security arevital.


This is a temporary, grant-funded position. Continuation of theposition from one academic year to the next is dependent uponcontinued grant funding.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  1. Administers exams and monitors students throughout the durationof the exams.

  2. Performs customer service functions, including welcomingstudents, providing testing instructions/information to students,and assisting students and faculty in person, by e-mail, and byphone

  3. Receives and logs incoming tests from instructors

  4. Document delivery (return tests to instructors)

  5. Maintains tests in a secure environment

  6. Makes sound, ethical judgments in regards to exam security

  7. Performs administrative support tasks as needed, includingmaintaining files, recording statistics, and entering scores in adatabase

  8. Troubleshoot test errors and equipment failure

  9. Responsible for other reasonable related duties asassigned


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:


  • Basic Computer skills (e-mail, MS Office)

  • General office machines (fax, scanner, printer, etc.)

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member

  • Excellent customer service skills


PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably todo the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending;carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; ordriving an automobile. No special physical demands are required toperform the work.


WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:


  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in aMicrosoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other generaloffice equipment

  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed tocarry out the functions of the position

  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimalexposure to safety hazards


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High school diploma or GED

  • Current Lone Star College students are not eligible to work inthe Assessment Center as a Proctor due to test securityconflicts

  • Any student currently enrolled in any undergraduate program arenot eligible to administer CLEP exams or any exams related to theirundergraduate program


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bilingual English/Spanish

  • Experience working in an educational environment

  • Experience working in an office environment

  • Experience administering or proctoring exams


Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $18.23.
