Job summary

The Colorado Department of Corrections seeks a Physician II (C1J2XX) to provide routine and emergency medical care to inmates at the Denver Correctional Complex. Responsibilities include examinations, diagnostics, prescribing treatments, and supervising mid-level providers.

Expected to participate in on-call rotations and quarterly medical reviews. Applicants must hold an MD or DO license in Colorado, be board eligible or certified in an eligible specialty, and provide DEA license documentation

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice medicine in Colorado as an M.D. or D.O.
• Board eligible or board certified in one of the specified specialties.
• Provide board certification or proof of board eligibility and DEA license with application.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medical examinations and diagnose conditions.
• Prescribe medications and treatment plans.
• Educate inmates about preventive health care.
• Supervise Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants; provide clinical oversight.
• Participate in on-call schedule and physician rounds.
• Maintain inmate health records, referrals, and medical reporting.
• Attend quarterly medical review board meetings and related discussions.
