Upper Marlboro Community Center in Maryland is seeking an enthusiastic, caring, and dependable Part-Time Preschool-Teacher to join our early childhood education team. Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities, and foster children's development in a warm, safe classroom.

We emphasize teamwork, licensing compliance, and effective communication with parents and staff. Working hours are Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., with potential variation on weekends based on program needs.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks and Maryland childcare licensing requirements.
  • Preferred: 90-Hour Child Care Certification.
  • Preferred: Experience working with preschool-aged children.

Required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks and meet Maryland childcare licensing requirements.
Preferred
  • 90-Hour Child Care Certification
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Act as a role model by displaying positive and courteous behaviors that children will admire and want to emulate
  • Maintain awareness of children's needs
  • Observe safety principles and work in a safe manner
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of tasks in an effective and timely manner, for self and others
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR (infant/child and adult), or able to become so certified within 60 days of hire (current certifications must be maintained throughout employment)
  • Occasionally lift, drag, and push files, paper, and equipment weighing 25 pounds or more

May be subject to drug and alcohol testing.

Work hours
  • Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
  • Weekends: May vary based on program and community center needs.

  • Position involves frequent interaction and engagement with preschool-aged children.
