Job summary

New Horizon Little Learners in Tempe, AZ is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to support daily activities, follow lesson plans, and ensure a safe, clean classroom. You will engage children with age-appropriate activities, help with meals and transitions, and contribute to a nurturing learning environment.

The role requires a minimum age of 16, a high school diploma or ongoing, CPR/First Aid, and a Food Handler card.

Qualifications

• Passionate about education and willingness to learn.
• Must be at least 16 years old.
• High school diploma/GED or in the process of obtaining.
• Unrestricted Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (prior to starting).
• CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Food Handler card.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all aspects of the care and education of the children enrolled in the class.
• Ensure the safety of each child enrolled in the class in all areas of the facility.
• Assist with maintaining/updating student feed/activities in the LL communication program (Brightwheel).
• Follow weekly lesson plans and goals outlined by the teacher.
• Be a team player and communicate consistently with peers.
• Maintain compliance with state licensing regulations.
• Assist in educating children about colors, letters, numbers and shapes.
• Engage in creative learning methods such as arts and crafts and storytelling.
• Assist in instilling order and discipline in the classroom.
• Supervise free time on the playground and in the classroom.
• Ensure the classroom is clean, safe and organized.
• Assist with opening and closing duties.
• Assist with any classroom/age group when needed.
• Assist with food distribution and cleanup.
• Engage with children in age-appropriate activities.
• Foster a positive and healthy learning environment.
• Report issues to supervisor per LL expectations.
