Job summary

Kent Intermediate School District in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a part-time Classroom Aide for the Great Start Readiness Program (2026-27). The role covers 127 days per year, 7 hours per day (Mon-Thu), for a total of 28 hours weekly. Non-Union hourly position.

The aide will support teachers in a high-quality preschool setting and help maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment in line with GSRP requirements. Strong communication, reliability, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Preferably has some experience working with children.
• Create and maintain a safe and positive learning environment focused on a sense of belonging within the classroom.
• Ability to communicate effectively and relate positively with students, parents, and school personnel.
• Good attendance and punctuality.
• Commitment to equity, social justice and inclusion in all practices and position responsibilities.
• Team player who is able to multitask and prioritize.
• Navigate some technology.
• Some English-speaking skills. Bilingual skills are highly desired.
• Willingness to work where needed to support staffing needs.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in the classroom setting, in a high-quality preschool program that complies with requirements of the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) grant.
• Assist with maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
• Assist with daily activities and supervision.
