Job summary

Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose, CO is hiring a Prep Cook. This role supports residents by preparing meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and state regulations, under the supervision of the Cook and Nutrition Manager.

Requires a High School diploma or GED (preferred), 18+ years old, and about one year of healthcare food service experience; friendly with the elderly; able to follow recipes and portions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum of one year food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting preferred.
• General knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioning.

Responsibilities

• Completes defined food preparation, serving of meals and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using various dietary equipment and supplies, as assigned by the Cook, Assistant Food and Nutrition Services Manager, Director of Food and Nutrition Services and Management Team.
• Prepares nutritional snacks for residents as assigned.
• Tastes and smells prepared food to determine quality and palatability.
• Assists with department inventory program.
• Performs other duties or special assignments as directed by the Cook, Assistant Food and Nutrition Services Manager or Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
