Job summary

The City of Fredericksburg, Virginia is hiring a Virginia DCJS Law Enforcement Certified Police Officer for a part-time role in the downtown district. Under supervision, officers patrol streets, enforce laws, respond to incidents, and support investigations and court procedures.

This is a dynamic community policing position with opportunities for professional growth. The role requires 24 hours per week, a pay range of $30.77–$46.11 per hour DOQ, and completion of necessary pre-employment

Qualifications

• Virginia DCJS certified officer with 3 years’ experience in law enforcement
• No more than two moving violations within previous 24 months
• Background investigation including fingerprint-based criminal history inquiries

Responsibilities

• Patrol city streets, River Bank, City Parks and neighborhoods to deter crime and assist residents
• Apprehend and arrest violators or suspects; investigate traffic accidents and enforce traffic laws
• Interview witnesses and suspects to gather information and evidence; secure crime scenes and process evidence
• Engage with the community to promote public safety and attend courts or mandatory off-duty details
• Collaborate with other agencies and assist prosecutors in preparing cases for trial
