Qualifications

• Current Virginia DCJS Certified officer.
• 3 years’ experience in law enforcement.
• Background checks including fingerprint history inquiries.
• Physical examination after conditional offer.
• Polygraph examination.
• Must complete law-fit course.

Responsibilities

• Patrol city streets, parks and neighborhoods to deter crime and ensure public safety.
• Conduct investigations, interview witnesses and suspects, secure evidence.
• Enforce traffic laws and respond to traffic incidents and DUIs.
• Engage with community to promote public safety and department image.
• Assist prosecutors in case preparation and serve as a witness in court.
• Perform administrative duties and maintain police vehicles and records.
