Job summary

UnityPoint Health is hiring a Food Service Worker in Madison, WI. The role supports basic food preparation, assembly, portioning, stocking and distribution to patients and customers, with shift 4:30 PM–8:00 PM and an every other weekend/holiday rotation.

Compensation starts at $19.38/hour plus shift differentials, with 12–20 hours per week and 0.3 FTE; non-benefit eligible. Responsibilities include sanitation, equipment operation, and assisting in various areas of the Food and Nutrition

Qualifications

• Able to read and interpret directions on packages and can labels.
• Able to do basic arithmetic.
• Knowledge of weights and measures.
• Able to follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation, assembly and portioning for patients and customers.
• Stock and distribute foods and supplies in the Food and Nutrition department.
• Maintain sanitation and operate related equipment according to standards.
• Perform custodian duties and routine cleaning as required.

The Food Service Worker position is responsible for a variety of duties, including basic preparation, assembly, portioning, stocking and/or distribution of foods and supplies to patients and other customers, and the manual cleaning associated with sanitation of all areas of the Food and Nutrition department. Exhibits knowledge of quality food standards, sanitation standards established by regulatory agencies and operation of food service equipment. There is significant variation in duties depending upon the area of primary assignment and shift worked, but in general, the majority of duties relate directly to basic food assembly, portioning, service; sanitation of utensils, dishes and equipment; and custodian duties.
