Job summary

Trinity Health's Genesis Occupational Health clinic is seeking a Part-time Lab Assistant to perform phlebotomy and routine laboratory support in an outpatient setting. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Completion of medical terminology or phlebotomy training preferred.
• Previous laboratory or phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or Red Cross required within 30 days of hire; must be maintained.
• Mandatory Reporter training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse required within 3-6 months of hire; must be maintained.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (Windows environment, web-based navigation, email, MS Office).
• Ability to read, write and understand English; communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
• Must uphold Trinity Health values and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify orders; collect and process specimens.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures (venipuncture and capillary) and collect other specimens.
• Prepare, label, and process specimens with accurate documentation; follow regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct waived lab testing; report results in the EHR and document quality control.
• Enter and manage data in the EHR; correct billing reports as needed.
• Maintain supply inventory and communicate needs to supervisor.
• Provide patient-centered service and explain procedures and results clearly.
• Assist with clerical duties including faxing, copying, filing, scheduling, and phone coverage.
• Support cross-coverage within clinic/lab areas and act as resource to colleagues.
