Job summary

AdventHealth South Overland Park is seeking a Laboratory Assistant I (Part-Time) for weekends. The role performs phlebotomy, specimen collection, processing, and laboratory support to ensure timely, accurate testing while upholding safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include patient data handling, specimen transport, basic clerical duties, and collaboration with clinical staff. Prior lab/phlebotomy experience is preferred and drive for ongoing learning is encouraged.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy Training Program preferred.
• Technical or Vocational Training preferred.
• Experience in laboratory, healthcare, specimen processing, or phlebotomy is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient and test information to maintain accurate records.
• Verifies patient ID, insurance, and testing requirements.
• Performs blood collection (venipuncture and capillary) as assigned.
• Prepares, processes, and transports specimens per procedures.
• Supports clerical tasks and customer service within the lab.
• Maintains equipment, supplies, and safety standards.
