Job summary

Vermillion Convalescent Center and Westridge Healthcare Center is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect blood specimens from residents in a nursing home or long-term care setting. The role requires accurate specimen collection, proper ID checks, and safe handling to support timely diagnostic testing while upholding resident dignity and safety.

Part-time position, 15-20 hours weekly, with no weekends. Pay is $16 per hour and mileage is reimbursable.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy knowledge and venipuncture techniques.
• Ability to identify residents and label specimens accurately.
• Understand HIPAA privacy requirements and infection control procedures.
• Strong communication with residents, families, and nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens from residents via venipuncture or capillary methods.
• Verify resident identity before collection and review orders.
• Coordinate blood draws with nursing staff to minimize disruption.
• Label, transport, and document specimens per procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and restock supplies; follow safety protocols.
• Report any collection issues or adverse events to staff.
