Job summary

Vermillion Convalescent Center and Westridge Healthcare Center are seeking a part-time Phlebotomist to collect blood specimens from residents in long-term care settings. The role requires safe techniques, patient communication, and strict privacy practices.

Compensation is $16 per hour with mileage reimbursement and a 15–20 hour workweek (no weekends). Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen labeling, timely transport, and coordination with nursing staff, while maintaining resident

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program preferred or required by employer.
• Previous phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Experience in nursing homes or healthcare settings preferred.
• Current phlebotomy certification preferred or required by facility policy.
• CPR/BLS certification if required by employer.
• Background checks and onboarding required.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary puncture as ordered.
• Verify resident identity before collection.
• Label specimens at collection and transport per procedures.
• Coordinate draws with nursing staff to minimize disruption.
• Observe residents for adverse reactions and notify staff.
• Maintain supplies and equipment, ensure cleanliness.
• Follow infection prevention protocols and PPE usage.
• Document collection logs and requisitions accurately.
