Job summary

Cumberland County, PA is seeking a part-time phlebotomy support role in the Prison department to safely collect evidentiary blood samples from DUI arrestees. The Records Manager supervises the phlebotomist, with schedule Fridays 9:00p-5:00a and Saturday nights every third week, plus occasional events.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, PA driver’s license, and certification as Medical Assistant or ASCP phlebotomy tech, with at least 1 year of related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and PA driver’s license.
• Certification as Medical Assistant or ASCP phlebotomy tech required.
• At least 1 year experience as Medical Laboratory Assistant or phlebotomist.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and safety/infection control practices.

Responsibilities

• Safely collect and process evidentiary blood samples for DUI arrestees.
• Maintain proper labeling, storage, and tracking of specimens.
• Adhere to sterile technique and infection control procedures.
• Keep supplies stocked and assist in ordering phlebotomy items.
• Attend required meetings and trainings; support Sobriety Checkpoint ops when directed.
• Serve as witness in DUI prosecutions when subpoenaed; liaise with DA’s lab.
