Job summary

The Arc Southern Chesapeake is hiring a part-time Personal Support Associate to help individuals access the community, form friendships, have fun, and become as self-sufficient as possible. The role includes driving for employment, appointments, and events in Maryland, with a 20-hour weekly schedule that may require weekend and evening coverage.

PSAs may support clients at home, in recreational settings, or in the community.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• A valid driving license and reliable vehicle for transporting individuals.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check as required by Maryland.
• Good driving record with no more than 2 points on license.
• Flexibility to work weekends and evenings.
• Comfort with providing personal support and assistance.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with physical and personal management needs, teaching skills and providing support to increase independence.
• Support household management and transportation to maximize skills and independence.
• Assist with medication administration if certified and coordinate health-related tasks.
• Help develop friendships and social connections and facilitate community involvement.
