Seton Hall University invites applications for a Part-time Student Peer Tutor in the RISE program (Core/Writing/English) to support undergraduate students through one-on-one and small-group tutoring sessions in South Orange.

Applicants must have Federal Work Study eligibility for 2026/27, maintain a 3.4 GPA, have earned an A- in the target courses, and demonstrate strong public speaking, communication, and interpersonal skills to work with diverse students.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Federal Work Study (FWS) award for the current academic year.
• Must have earned a minimum grade of an A- in the Core, Writing, or English course you wish to tutor.
• Must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.4.
• Strong public speaking or presentation skills to confidently facilitate program events.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions for Core, Writing, and English courses.
• Assist students with developing writing skills, understanding reading assignments, and mastering course content.
• Help students improve study habits, note-taking strategies, and exam preparation techniques.
• Coordinate and facilitate at least one Scholarly Development workshop and one Financial Literacy event per semester.
• Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, attendance, and student progress.
• Attend mandatory training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled by the program coordinator.
