Job summary

CAPITAL AREA TRANSIT SYSTEM in Baton Rouge is seeking a Part-Time Payroll & Human Resources Specialist to coordinate the Agency's payroll and provide limited HR support. You will partner with Finance and the payroll vendor to ensure accurate, timely pay, while maintaining records and compliance with wage laws and agreements.

The role also covers employee records, benefits enrollment, leave administration, and HR tasks as assigned, with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 3+ years payroll experience
• Experience with multi-department payroll
• Experience with HRIS/payroll systems
• Knowledge of payroll reporting and leave administration
• Experience in unionized/public sector payroll preferred

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and process biweekly payroll with Finance and payroll vendor.
• Audit time records for accuracy; process adjustments and retroactive payments.
• Ensure compliance with FLSA, IRS, state wage laws, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Maintain payroll records and respond to employee questions.
• Assist with year-end payroll processing, W-2s, and internal audits.
• Provide HR support: employee records, benefits enrollment, leave tracking, onboarding.
