Job description

Part-Time Patient Care Technician Lecture/Lab/Clinical Instructor

Classes and labs will be held at Pontiac High School during regular school hours. The clinical rotation will be held at Trinity Health Oakland Hospital. The population is high school-aged individuals. The contract is contingent on class availability.

Position Information

Job Title: Part-Time Patient Care Technician Lecture/Lab/Clinical Instructor

Job Description Summary:

  1. Directs, manages, and evaluates student learning in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
  2. Assists the student in the integration of theory and practice, specific to the course’s learning activities and the level of the learner.
  3. Evaluates the student’s development of clinical reasoning skills.
  4. Is available at all times the student is in the class or lab setting.
  5. Directly observes and guides students’ learning activities with clients.
  6. Evaluates students in the lab as related to the program outcomes.
  7. Provides weekly lesson plans to the PCT Program Director within established timelines.
  8. Provides timely and ongoing feedback to the PCT Program Director regarding individual student and group performance in the accomplishment of the course outcomes.
  9. Must possess knowledge of the structure and function of the human body.
  10. Must have dexterity with the use of microscopes and anatomical dissection.
  11. Must have knowledge of specimen collection and laboratory testing procedures.
  12. Must have cardiac telemetry monitoring experience.
  13. Must have dexterity with the use of the 12-lead electrocardiogram monitor.
  14. Must possess knowledge in patient care skills, basic therapeutic techniques, data collection, communication skills, legal and ethical aspects that affect the practice of the patient care technician, safety measures, and vital signs.
  15. Must have dexterity with hands-on demonstration, practice, and validation of skills.
  16. Must have experience with online learning.
Minimum Qualifications:

Oakland University School of Nursing Continuing Education accepts applications for part-time nursing faculty with a minimum of a baccalaureate in nursing degree and a minimum of three years of clinical nursing (RN) experience. Candidate must possess a valid state of Michigan nursing license and pass the criminal background check and urine drug screen.
