Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center's Pomerantz Surgery Center is seeking an 80% Patient Care Technician who, under direct supervision, assists the nursing team in providing patient care across inpatient and outpatient areas. You will perform vital signs, basic procedures, and support daily patient needs.

Qualifications

• Read, write and follow instructions.
• Ability to communicate with patients and health care staff.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Understand sanitation and health hazards.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs (temp, pulse, resp, BP).
• Perform aseptic tasks including phlebotomy and IV-related care.
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Provide for patient hygiene and comfort.
• Transport patients, equipment and specimens.
• Stock and clean patient rooms and nursing units.
