Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Pomerantz Surgery Center is seeking 100% Patient Care Technicians to assist the nursing team in inpatient and outpatient areas under direct supervision. Responsibilities include vital signs, phlebotomy, dressing changes, patient transfers, hygiene, and equipment maintenance, with rotating shifts on campus in Iowa City.

Applicants must follow instructions, communicate effectively with patients and staff, and uphold patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Minimum Eligibility Requirements: ability to read, write and follow instructions.
• Desirable Qualifications: ability to follow oral and written instructions, patient condition awareness, confidentiality, sanitation knowledge, teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Independently obtain and record vital signs.
• Assist with admission, transfers, and discharges.
• Provide personal hygiene and comfort for patients.
• Turn, position, and ambulate patients; transport patients and supplies.
• Assist with bedpan/urinal use and intake/output documentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and stocking of patient rooms and units.
